At the end of the day we'll put
stars in very fast cars and that'll
be enough entertainment in itself.
If you like fast cars, motorsport
stars and tight competition,
then New Zealand's new V8
racing series is for you.
The V8SuperTourers is a Kiwi
version of the Australian-born
V8SuperCars, fronted by two-time
world champion Paul Radisich who
has been appointed the V8Super-
Tourers chief executive.
Radisich said New Zealand

This is New Zealand's answer to
The series would kick off in
February with 16 teams racing the
purpose-built cars, with room to
expand the field to 20.
At the moment the cars were
being designed in Australia, put
together, taken apart, and sent
across the ditch to their teams.
The teams would get their final
parts soon and a test run would be
held on February 10.
This meant all of the teams would
race identical cars, and have the
same amount of time to test them.
The only difference was some of the
cars sported a Holden body, and
some represented Ford.
Radisich said the way the series
was designed meant it would come
down to drivers finding the sweet
spot'' in their cars' controls.
And when it came to drivers there
was no lack of experience. Greg
Murphy, Craig Baird, John McIn-
tyre, Kayne Scott, Andy Booth, and
Paul Manuel were among some of
the names who signed up for the
series' first year.

The cars have seven-litre engines,
and 575 horsepower.
New Zealand's V8SuperTourers
have the ability to reach speeds of
well over 200kmh, even though New
Zealand circuits would not accom-
modate this sort of speed.
Radisich, who had raced in tracks
around the world, said he was look-
ing forward to being back in New
Zealand with his wife and two girls.
I haven't lived at home for well
over 20 years.''
He said he was also looking for-
ward to the competition on
Manfeild's short circuit, which he
always enjoyed coming back to.
It's great to see Manfeild's keep-
ing up with things.''
While it was his first time co-
ordinating and organising a series,
Radisich's 30 years of motorsport
experience and a lifetime of
motorsport interest should put him
